National Innovation Visa

National Innovation (Subclass 858) visa (NIV), previously known as a Global Talent (Subclass 858) visa is a permanent visa for people who have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in an eligible field.

What you can do

• work and study in Australia
• stay in Australia permanently
• sponsor eligible relatives for permanent residence in Australia
• if eligible, apply for Australian citizenship

Eligibility criteria

To be invited to apply for a visa under the National Innovation Visa Program, an applicant must have an internationally recognised record of exceptional and outstanding achievement in one of the following sectors:

• Resources

• Agri-food and AgTech

• Energy

• Health Industries

• Defence, Advanced Manufacturing and Space

• Circular Economy

• DigiTech

• Infrastructure and Tourism

• Financial Services and FinTech

• Education and

• be of benefit to Australia and have the ability to establish yourself in Australia
• be nominated by: an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, an eligible New Zealand citizen, or
  an Australian organisation with a national reputation in your area of talent
• candidates should have the ability to attract a salary at or above the Fair Work high income threshold
