The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP), funded by the Australian Government, provides up to 510 hours of free English language tuition to eligible migrants and humanitarian entrants. AMEP is offered in tailored streams designed to meet the specific learning needs and goals of newly arrived migrants. Whether you want to improve your English language skills for living, working, or studying in Australia, AMEP have a pathways that's right for you.

Eligibility

If you hold permanent residency or an eligible temporary visa, speak little to no English, and are 18 years or over, you may be eligible for the program. In some cases, individuals between 15 and 17 years of age may also be eligible.

Learning Options

A range of course options are available, allowing you to take classes full-time or part-time, in-person or through distance learning. Some weekend and night classes are also available. The AMEP also provides free childcare during class times, and home tutoring.

Two types of courses are offered by the program: pre-employment English classes, and social English classes.
