2016/17 Skilled Occupation List

The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has released the 2016-17 Skilled Occupations List (SOL) and Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL). The list will come into effect from 1st July 2016. The SOL identifies occupations that would benefit from skilled migration for the purpose of meeting the medium to long-term skill needs of the Australian economy. If you intend to apply on or after 1st July 2016, you need to make sure your occupation is listed on the relevant occupation list.

The occupations of Orthotist or Prosthetist (ANZSCO 251912) and Audiologist (ANZSCO 252711) have been added to the SOL while the following occupations will be moved from SOL to CSOL:

  • Mining Engineer (Excluding Petroleum) (ANZSCO 233611)
  • Petroleum Engineer (ANZSCO 233612)
  • Metallurgist (ANZSCO 234912)
  • Environmental Health Officer (ANZSCO 251311)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Adviser (ANZSCO 251312)
  • Dental Hygienist (ANZSCO 411211)
  • Dental Prosthetist (ANZSCO 411212)
  • Dental Technician (ANZSCO 411213)
  • Dental Therapist (ANZSCO 411214).

The SOL is used for 189 (Skilled Independent Visa), subclass 489 (Skilled Regional Provisional Visa), and subclass 485 (Graduate Temporary Visa) visa applications.

The CSOL is used for subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated Visa), subclass 457 (Temporary Work Skilled Visa), and subclass 186 (Employer Nominated Scheme) visa applications.
